The region is highly industrialized and oriented especially on aviation, electromechanical, biotechnology, IT and chemical industry. Podkarpackie is a place of a large concentration of aviation industry - almost 90% of Polish production.

 
Aerospace industry
A strong position of the aerospace industry is a characteristic feature of the Podkarpackie Region, that situation stems from traditions dating back to the 1930s. 90 % of the enterprises from this sector in Poland are located in this region. For example United Technologies Aerospace Systems, Pratt & Whitney Aeropower, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, MTU Aero Engines, VAC AERO, Heli-One and many other companies operate here. In 2003 the Association of Polish Aerospace Industry Entrepreneurs Group “Aviaton Valley” was formed to promote this branch in Poland and abroad. Nowadays the association has over 110 members.
 
Automotive industry
Currently, the automotive industry and any branches producing for it are based on the most modern technologies and organizational solutions. Entrepreneurs from the region operating in the automotive industry have an extensive portfolio of the offered products. Among them there are shock absorbers (BeijingWest Industries), bodies and chassis constructions (Kirchhoff), tyres (Goodyear), car window-panes (Pilkington Automotive) and seat systems (Lear Corporation). One of the largest producers of coaches in Poland Autosan S.A. is also located in Podkarpackie Region and it offers e.g. city, intercity and school buses.
 
IT industry
The IT industry in the region was the subject of constant changes to finally reach the high level of development in the region what is additionally enhanced by daily operation and activeness of “The IT Association in Podkarpacie”. It is also here, in Rzeszow, where one of the leading information technology companies in Europe has its seat, Asseco Poland S.A. Smaller IT companies from the region specialize in complex computerization of medium-sized and big companies and they can be potential suppliers and co-operators.
 
Food industry
The food processing industry (meat, cereal, fruit, vegetables, dairy and sugar) is being developed rapidly in the Podkarpackie Region. Main export offer covers, in particular, pasta, frozen vegetables, fruit juices and sweets as well. Additionally, a new trend can be observed nowadays, namely the growing number of ecological farms in comparison with other regions. The Podkarpackie Region is the leader with almost 2,500 such farms within its boundaries. Another regional pride is a well known brewery in Leżajsk as well as the “Polmos Łańcut” S.A. distillery in Łańcut, that has been operating for over 200 years, offering a wide selection of spirit products, such as vodkas, liquors and rosoglios.
 
Glass industry
In the Podkarpackie Region there is a glass area created by glass plants, artistic studios, glass studios, schools and other acknowledged artists. The KROSNO S.A. glassworks joint stock company is one of the biggest companies of this type in Poland and Europe; it is one of the leaders in the international glass industry. The main producers of glass products in the area of Krosno and in the vicinity include the KROSNO S.A. glassworks joint stock company, Deco Glass, Villa Glass Studio and Investland. The world leader in the market of glass packaging - the American concern Owens-Illinois Inc., has its largest plant in
Jarosław.
 
Chemical industry
The chemical industry is an important segment of the regional economy. The main entities in this industry include the ones which process plastics and rubber, produce medicines and other pharmaceuticals (ICN Polfa Rzeszów S.A.), paints and varnishes (Śnieżka SA), organic chemicals, semi-finished products for the plastics industry and products of oil refining. The Podkarpackie Region is the birthplace of the Polish petroleum tool industry. Till today two oil refineries have been functioning in Jasło and Jedlicze.The cosmetics industry is becoming more and more important. It includes the producers of skin care products and also one of the biggest producers of colour cosmetics in Poland INGLOT Sp. z o.o.
